Cody Anderson Wasney Architects Inc. maintains a culture of community participation and philanthropy. We have supported the following organizations by providing pro bono services, in kind donations, and literally thousands of hours of volunteer work by our principals and staff members.

Leap

Leap’s mission is to provide top quality arts education programs that help students build skills to achieve their fullest potential. They envision a world where art is a fundamental part of every child’s education and success. Each year, CAW participates in Leap’s annual sandcastle contest in San Franisco. Leap hosts this spirited competition between teams of architects, designers, contractors, corporations, engineers and local elementary school students each October on Ocean Beach. The Sandcastle Contest is a fundraiser to support Leap’s arts education programs.

California Preservation Foundation

The California Preservation Foundation provides statewide leadership, advocacy and education to ensure the protection of California's diverse cultural heritage and historic places. CAW has supported the organization financially for a decade, including a multi-year commitment to their "Partners in the Field" grant program and sponsoring the popular "Three Minute Success Stories" at their annual convention. Chris Wasney and Monty Anderson have participated in many CPF panels and symposiums and Monty is a CPF Trustee Emeritus, and serves on their Easement Committee and Conference Programs Committee.

The Museum of American Heritage

Exhibits at The Museum of American Heritage combine elements of history, technology, and design to illustrate the evolution of technology, explore how and why it has influenced society from inception to the current time, and give visitors a glimpse of future expectations. Monty Anderson has served on their Board of Directors and Community Advisory Board for almost a decade, and the firm has sponsored lecture series, events and provided in kind services for the Museum.

The Presidio Community YMCA

The Presidio YMCA builds strong kids, strong families, and strong communities by enriching the lives of all people in spirit, mind, and body. The Presidio YMCA is located in the heart of San Francisco's beautiful urban national park and former military base, and is the premier place to find community and achieve personal wellness. The branch is attempting to build an ambitious new facility fronting Crissy Field. Chris Wasney has served on their Board of Managers for four years, and has donated countless hours of time, and the firm has donated in kind services to help define the vision and advance the reality of a new Y that will serve as a portal to the park.

The Woman's Club of Palo Alto

Founded in 1894, the members of the Woman's Club of Palo Alto were pioneers in enhancing the quality of life for Palo Altans throughout the 20th century. They led the way in times when few philanthropic institutions existed and government support of schools, libraries, and public health was more limited. Today, the Club provides grants to cultural, educational, and social service organizations whose programs benefit women and children.

CAW designed renovations to provide accessibility to the building, and new accessible restrooms within.

City of Palo Alto Historic Resources Board

The Historic Resources Board (HRB) was created by the City Council to assist in the protection and enhancement of Palo Alto's historic structures, properties and districts by promoting historic preservation and compatible new development within Palo Alto. Monty Anderson served eight years on the HRB, including four years as chair.

Sustainable Conservation

Sustainable Conservation advances the stewardship of natural resources using innovative, pragmatic strategies that actively engage businesses and private landowners in conservation. CAW has designed two office interiors for this growing non-profit, to help it meet its expanding mission.
